Rakshabandhan - a day for sisters

A few days back there was a festival in India known as Rakshabandhan in which a sister ties a thread around the wrist of a brother and takes an assurance from him  for her life long security and protection . The brother does not speak any word of protection . It is rather a silent and deemed assurance on behalf of  brother . The brother accepts the thread on his wrist and thus a bond between brother and sister is re-established and renewed every year . This  tradition takes place every year and is continuing from time immemorial . The next side of story / social reality . The sister is living unhappily with her husband after marriage or is in utter distress after the death of her husband or has been driven out by her in-laws , many brothers living happily with their own families do not care for their sisters . She is living a life of destitute thus . The reason why a brother does not turn up for help is his fear that he will have to help her financially or give something from his property for her survival . The property share of sister is still lying with the brother and he is not willing to help her . This is ironical , immoral and unethical on the part of  brothers .

An Appeal

On this festival every brother should pledge that he will extend property share to his sister , a right denied to her so far . -  Sudhanshu Kumar
