Rakshabandhan - a day for sisters

A few days back there was a festival in India known as Rakshabandhan in which a sister ties a thread around the wrist of a brother and takes an assurance from him  for her life long security and protection . The brother does not speak any word of protection . It is rather a silent and deemed assurance on behalf of  brother . The brother accepts the thread on his wrist and thus a bond between brother and sister is re-established and renewed every year . This  tradition takes place every year and is continuing from time immemorial . The next side of story / social reality . The sister is living unhappily with her husband after marriage or is in utter distress after the death of her husband or has been driven out by her in-laws , many brothers living happily with their own families do not care for their sisters . She is living a life of destitute thus . The reason why a brother does not turn up for help is his fear that he will have to help her financially or give something from his property for her survival . The property share of sister is still lying with the brother and he is not willing to help her . This is ironical , immoral and unethical on the part of  brothers .

An Appeal

On this festival every brother should pledge that he will extend property share to his sister , a right denied to her so far . -  Sudhanshu Kumar

RAIN HARVESTING

The monsoon has come but this is not raining well . We should pray to God that this should rain to save the farmers of this country and  provide foodgrains to all and make substantial export to other countries to earn good revenue to motherland . For the last many years monsoon is not acting successfully resulting in indebtedness of farmers all across the country and leading to certain suicide cases in Andhra Pradesh , Uttar Pradesh  & Bihar . There may be many more cases . Let us think and plan about the agriculture of the country which we are not doing honestly . The crux of the matter is that we should not depend solely on monsoons but create and devise our own ways of  irrigation facilities by linking the rivers , making  small and natural dams , renovating traditional earthen canals , ponds and wells etc .  as well as rain harvesting by other feasible methods whatever little water comes on this earth even during failed monsoons . We should not sit crossed hands and at least spread the ideas to the planners and farmers of this country . This will be a fruitful and noble deed on our part .

Tree Plantation

Today I have come with an appeal to all those who view this blog write - up. The monsoon season is going on and this is the best time for tree plantation as trees survive during the rains without any extra efforts . We all should pledge to produce oxygen for us . We have no right to consume oxygen without producing it . George Bernard shaw , the great British playwright / dramatist  rightly puts it that we should not consume without producing . So plant one tree at least in this season either inside your house or outside whichever is preferable for you .

Thanking you - sudhanshu kumar

MONSOON

This monsoon I had been praying to God to give rains to India as the south-west monsoon has been ditching the country for the last many years . I have in fact not seen good monsoon rains in these years and crave for them heartily . I remember my childhood days when there were thunders , lightning , storms and rains continuing for two-three days at a stretch or even beyond that . I remember my parents collecting  foodgrains , fuels and fodders for the monsoon period . sometimes the sun did not shine for many days and one day when it shone our faces too shone and we heaved a sigh of relief . The children these days are poor and deprived so far as beauty of monsoon and what we saw in our days is concerned . The rainbows were excellent and pleased us to the core of our heart . We saw them and became jubilant . The seven colours were splendid , marvellous . I have been missing them this monsoon . I wish the rainbows to see in the sky this time . I will be a blessed one if this happens.   Wishing you all good luck  -  Sudhanshu Kumar
